The idea that religious groups should not pay rates or taxes is clearly unfair to the whole community. Why shouldn't athiest organisations also be tax-free. This concept dates back to the dark ages when Churches rules the roost. I don't deny that religious organisations should not be compensated for the good works that they do but only if that good work involves the whole community and not just exclusive sections of it.
